Why I read

Why do I read? I read for the pleasure but also the escape. When I start to read a book, I get sucked in. I can't stop reading and I feel like I'm a part of the book. I feel like I'm observing the show from above and know everything. I can hear the characters and see the action that's happening in the book. I also get this little "movie" in my head. I can see it all very clearly and imagine what it would look like if it were to be a movie. I love to read and would read all day everyday if I could. I wish I had more time to read so I'm glad I took this class so I can read more often. Many people hate reading, and I don't understand how you can hate reading. You can be transported into another world. I read to escape. Once you start to read, that's all you can think about. What's going to happen next? You become obsessed with the characters. It's like teenagers with their favorite show. Addicited. That's why I read. Why do you read? Maybe it's the pleasure, the escape, the entertaiment or the addiction.

  2. Getting the whole book as a movie in your head is definitely a great reason to read!

  3. I so agree with you, when I read a book I like to block out anything that stops me from reading that book, I use reading as an escape but a way to deal with stress

  5. Fun defense of reading and its virtues! I like how you describe reading as having a movie in your mind--reading is so visual.
