What is a book (Post 2)

What is a book? A book is an adventure. A book is an Escape. I don’t know about you but as I read that’s all I think about. You can escape into an entire world that is your own. You “make” the movie. I can’t stand to read on a kindle, phone or anything like that because it isn’t the same. I love being able to hold my book, and pass it on and share it with others. My dad’s friend recently gave me The Art of Racing in the Rain. I ended up reading this for Book 1, but I absolutely loved it and if he hadn’t passed his book on to me, I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to read this amazing book. “a work of fiction or nonfiction in an electronic format: Your child can listen to or read the book online. See also e-book ( def 2 ) .” This is the second definition of a book on dictionary. I don’t know about you, but this is NOT a book to me. A book is pages and covers. Books have secrets hidden inside of them waiting for you to turn each page and unfold each secret it has to offer. Ereaders don’t give you that full experience of turning to the next page in anticipation what secret will come out next. As the new kindle’s started to come out, such as the kindle fire, I wanted one. Then I started to think why do I want one? For the games and things you can do with it, not just read. So do I still want a kindle fire today? No I don’t. I would rather hold both covers of my book and flip the crisp, clean cut pages that hardbound books have to offer. As technology advances I will continue to read hardbound books, not ereaders or kindles but hardbound copies of books. What will happen if bookstores disappear entirely? Where will the next generations get their books? If this is to happen, I will have my book copies and can share these with others.  Unfortunately, Soon bookstores will be a thing of the past. As you walk into a book store, you get this feeling, a sense of calmness. It washes over me like a wave. It’s quiet. People picking up books, reading the backs and flipping the pages to find their perfect read. I love that feeling. I hope that each and every generation will have a bookstore and can walk in and get that feeling that I do. What is a book to you?
