Book 1 Project: Advertisment

If you live in a city, or maybe a small town you see lost dog or dogs for sale posters quiet often. But you don’t see a book poster do you? Well that’s exactly this. As an avid reader I am always looking to get my hands on new material. But sometimes I find that hard. I wish that these book posters were put up around our town. It would make finding a book a lot easier. But that’s not what I’m going to tell you about. What makes this connect with the dog poster is this book is about a dog, who tells us his life from his point of view. And boy does he have some good points on life, that we could all learn from. I want to give you an example of a book poster or advertisement. Maybe it will inspire you to make your own, or read the book.

Dying. Many people fear death. But Enzo is ready. He is ready to come back as a man. He feels prepared. You’re probably who Enzo is, or should I say what Enzo is. Enzo is dog. He is old and has hip dysplasia. Pretty common in dogs that are older. Enzo is on the verge of death, but before he parts we are lucky enough to hear his story. When Enzo was a puppy, He was bought by a guy named Denny. Denny lives in Seattle and adopted Enzo from a small house in east Washington. Denny loved Enzo with his whole heart. As Enzo and Denny bond and get to know each other, Enzo learns Denny is a fascination with racing and is quiet good at it. But Denny hasn’t had the chance to make it big. When he isn’t trying to get into the racing industry as a star, he works at the local BMW shop. This is enough to support them. Soon a girl named Eve comes into their lives. As Denny and Eve grow together, they have a child named Zoe. But Enzo can sense there is something is wrong with Eve long before everyone else knows. Enzo can’t say anything though because he is a dog and we all know dogs can’t talk. He always had this feeling about Eve and was kind of stand offish, but decides to befriend her for his and Denny’s sake. “I tried not to act off-putting because I knew how infatuated Denny was with her. But I admit I was less than embracing of her presence.” As Denny starts to get more chances I the racing business, Eve starts to experience severe headaches and migraines. Sometimes they are so bad that Eve goes to her parents for the day while Denny is at work because her headaches get so bad. One day, her headaches are so bad that she left Enzo without food and water for about 2 days. When Denny came home to find out, He was furious. “And quickly she gathered some things while I watched… and –bang– the door slammed shut and –snick, snick –the deadbolt was thrown and they were gone.”

As Eve, Denny, Zoe and Enzo continue their life together, Eves “condition” gets worse. Now I don’t want to ruin this book for you because my great advertisement will make you want to read it, right? Well anyway I don’t want to tell you what’s wrong with Eve. During the book, I had a good idea to what was wrong with Eve. But it gets much worse and after Eve’s condition gets worse, Denny’s life takes a turn for the worst. We know he likes to race and doesn’t have much luck with winning, and then he gets accused of committing a crime he didn’t commit which prevents him from doing a lot of stuff that could help him. “We have a warrant for his arrest,” one of the policemen said. But soon Denny’s luck changes, but for the better this time. He gets a huge offer that will help with his racing career and finical problems. Unfortunately at the end Enzo dies but, there’s a little surprise in the epilogue that made the story just a little bit more touching than it already was.

What is a book (Post 2)

What is a book? A book is an adventure. A book is an Escape. I don’t know about you but as I read that’s all I think about. You can escape into an entire world that is your own. You “make” the movie. I can’t stand to read on a kindle, phone or anything like that because it isn’t the same. I love being able to hold my book, and pass it on and share it with others. My dad’s friend recently gave me The Art of Racing in the Rain. I ended up reading this for Book 1, but I absolutely loved it and if he hadn’t passed his book on to me, I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to read this amazing book. “a work of fiction or nonfiction in an electronic format: Your child can listen to or read the book online. See also e-book ( def 2 ) .” This is the second definition of a book on dictionary. I don’t know about you, but this is NOT a book to me. A book is pages and covers. Books have secrets hidden inside of them waiting for you to turn each page and unfold each secret it has to offer. Ereaders don’t give you that full experience of turning to the next page in anticipation what secret will come out next. As the new kindle’s started to come out, such as the kindle fire, I wanted one. Then I started to think why do I want one? For the games and things you can do with it, not just read. So do I still want a kindle fire today? No I don’t. I would rather hold both covers of my book and flip the crisp, clean cut pages that hardbound books have to offer. As technology advances I will continue to read hardbound books, not ereaders or kindles but hardbound copies of books. What will happen if bookstores disappear entirely? Where will the next generations get their books? If this is to happen, I will have my book copies and can share these with others.  Unfortunately, Soon bookstores will be a thing of the past. As you walk into a book store, you get this feeling, a sense of calmness. It washes over me like a wave. It’s quiet. People picking up books, reading the backs and flipping the pages to find their perfect read. I love that feeling. I hope that each and every generation will have a bookstore and can walk in and get that feeling that I do. What is a book to you?

Why I read

Why do I read? I read for the pleasure but also the escape. When I start to read a book, I get sucked in. I can't stop reading and I feel like I'm a part of the book. I feel like I'm observing the show from above and know everything. I can hear the characters and see the action that's happening in the book. I also get this little "movie" in my head. I can see it all very clearly and imagine what it would look like if it were to be a movie. I love to read and would read all day everyday if I could. I wish I had more time to read so I'm glad I took this class so I can read more often. Many people hate reading, and I don't understand how you can hate reading. You can be transported into another world. I read to escape. Once you start to read, that's all you can think about. What's going to happen next? You become obsessed with the characters. It's like teenagers with their favorite show. Addicited. That's why I read. Why do you read? Maybe it's the pleasure, the escape, the entertaiment or the addiction.

Final Blogger Relfection

Click here to view my best blog post.
http://laframe99.blogspot.com/2013/09/theme-and-summary-re-do.html

I think that this bost was my best blog post becasuse I think I follwed the requirements well and understood what was required. The rubric says that the blog should contian information on how this theme emergers throught the whole book and I think I did a pretty good job on how the theme is present. " I think the theme of Pretty Little Liars is strength in numbers. I think this is the theme because when the girls are going through the strange texts and basically bulling, they stick together and try to figure it out together." I think that this is a good theme statement because I state the theme adn give an example of how the theme is present through the whole book.

Next trimester my goal is to read books that will challenge me more, but I still like the books. I am not a big fan of non fiction so I would like to read a non ficiton book and like it. An area of improvement for next trimester would be to read more and read more types of generes. I would also like to read new authors. I know there is a lot of books out there but I tend to limit my self to certain generes as that is what I enjoy more. For writing, I want to become a better writer by capturing attention and giving more figurative languauge

Book Recommendation

I would recommend The Great Gatsby for people who like movies and/or books set back in the 1920s. This book is very romantic so if you don't like romantic type books, I would not read this. I really like The Great Gatsby. I saw the movie first and thought it was really good so decided to read the book and see if it was just as good, or if not better. I had heard from many other people that the book was really good and kept your attention so I decided to read it so I could compare the book to the movie.

Free post (The Great Gatsby)

So far in the Great Gatsby, the main character has moved into god small little "hut" next to Gatsby mansion. He has then been invited over to Daisy his cousins for dinner. Daisy always looks across at Gatsby's house and I think that she still loves him after all these years of no contact and being married to another man. I think that they will have an affair and Daisies husband will know about it, but keeps it a secret that he knows. I hope that Gatsby and Daisy can keep it a secret and nothing will go wrong .

Mood and Tone

The mood of Crushed, Pretty Little Liars is mysterious and/or suspenseful. An example of when the book is suspenseful is "I do love some freshly planted lies on a lovely spring afternoon. I wonder if Agent Fuji feels the same.. -A. Spencer squeezed her eyes shut. Letting out a wail, she hurled the phone across the room.. " This is an example of suspense because this is the end of the chapter so you want to keep reading to find out what happens with A and if she follows through with what she says.

A moment in Crushed when a character is swayed by beliefs of others is when Spencer says that A could be Noal, Aria's boyfriends. At first Aria isn't very happy with this and gets very mad. But the more she thinks about it, she starts to question this. She starts to wondering and think about the possibility of Noal being A and then starts to question their relationship and lies to him.

Characters

In Crushed, the 13th book in Pretty Little Liars, the charcters have defiantly developed over the course of this book and the past 12 books. Emily is one charcter who I notice a big difference in. In the beginning she is very timid and scared, especially when A first starts to send them weird texts. She was really scared as to what might happen to them. She was also frightned the someone was pretneding to be Ali, who was dead, and texting them. She goes the the other 3 girl, Spencer, Aria and Hanna for support. The girls all use each other for support and to lean on each other as they are going through the same thing. Because Emily is scared it makes you feel bad for her and almost understand what she is going through. But as the story continues she gets brave and trys to find out who A is so she can stop A and stand up to him/her. This drives the plot because if Emily stayed timid adn scared the whole time, you wouldnt feel the suspense of trying to find A. You also wouldn't understand her feels as well.

Free Post

Along with reading Pretty Little Liars, I am also reading the Great Gatsby. I just started it and found it pretty confusing in the beginning but as I got into it a few pages it made a lot more sense. I saw the movie a few months ago and thats what inspired be to read this book. I also heard from a few people that the book is really good and keeps your attention. I think I will really like the book, I just need to get further into it.

Theme and Summary Re-Do

I am currently reading the Pretty Little Liars series. I am on book 13 of 13. I really enjoy this book series. In this post I am going to talk about theme, but first heres a summary. In the beginning of the series you find out that Ali, 4 girls best friend, was murdered. When they are at her funeral they get all get the same next from A, who they instantly think is Ali, but she was murdered so I didnt make sense. As the series goes on, they get more and more texts and are now trying to find out who is A. I havent found out who it is yet, but I have a few guesses. I think the theme of Pretty Little Liars is strength in numbers. I think this is the theme because when the girls are going through the strange texts and basically bulling, they stick together and try to figure it out together. They always think about the group and not just their needs. I fi were in this situation, I would want to have friends by my side, who were going through this situation, because they would understand and know what to do.

Book Recommendation

I would recommend Pretty Little Lairs, Crushed to mostly girls around our age. This book is a drama but also has romance in it. I haven't finished crushed, but it is the 13th book in the series and I am still really enjoying them. If you haven't read the books they are about 4 girls whos best friend was murdered about 4 years ago and it still haunts them to this day. They can never have normal lives anymore, because a mysterious person, A tortures them through text, and real life. I feel like some people could relate to this book because the girls are being bullied and people all over the world are being bullied right now. I would highly recommend this book if you haven't yet started the series.

Characters

Throughout these 13 book so far, the characters have developed a lot! One character who became very dynamic is Emily. In the beginning of the series she is very shy, reserved, timid and takes their friend, Ali's, death very hard and is sad. When A starts to text them, and basically threaten them, Emily is very scared and wants to tell her parents. Once she finds out that the other girls are gertting them too, they try to stick together and support each other. Now Emily isn's very shy anymore and wants to take A down. She has become confident and no longer is scared as to what might happen. She is more mad that A is relentless and wont leave them alone. . The other characeters are also dynamic becasue Spencer is very confident in the beginning and not scared, which is the total opposite of Emily. But now Spencer is scared, because she knows what A can do and how she can hurt them. This advances the theme, which is strenght in numbers becasue when Emily is scared, her friends stand by her and help her become confident.

Chapter Summary

In the past few chapters, a lot has happened. Last year when Aria was in Europe on a ski trip, he and this guy Olaf stole the very famous Starry night painting by Vincent Van Gogh. Aria then sees a new paper saying that he has died and it might be connected to the painting. She then finds this painting in her closet and doesn't know what to do. She is also voted head of homecoming committee and the theme is Starry Night, and this makes Aria go pale. It turns out Noel had put her in the running.

Reading Skills

In Pretty Little Liars, Crushed, I think that A will be someone close to them. An example of someone close to them who could be A is Noel Arias boyfriend. Spencer and the other girls are think that Noel could be a suspect, but Aria doesn't want to think about that. She gets mad at the girl for even thinking that. I wonder if A really is one of the girls boyfriends?? A text to world connection that I can make is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying happens all the time around the world through social media sites, and texts messages. I hope that A really isn't one of the girls boyfriends or close friends because that I think that they are goo with each other, but then again Spencers' boyfriend, Toby helped A to protect the girls.

In this post I want to talk about the characters developing. The characters develop through this series because when they first gets these strange texts, apparently coming from their dead best friend they freak out and become scared just like how any normal person would react. But as the story goes on, they learn to ignore the texts, and become stronger and less afraid of who is doing this. They start to help each other and band together against "A".
I am currently reading the Pretty Little Liars series. I am on book 13 of 13. I really enjoy this book series. In this post I am going to talk about theme. I think the theme of Pretty Little Liars is strength in numbers. I think this is the theme because when the girls are going through the strange texts and basically bulling, they stick together and try to figure it out together. They always think about the group and not just their needs. The theme of The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan is to always believe in yourself and your talents. The reason I think this is the central idea is because throughout the story the characters have to believe in themselves to conquer the task they are trying to accomplish. One Example of this is when Leo is trying to fix Festus. But to fix Festus, he has to believe that he can do it with his talent. He is not very confident in himself, so he has to believe that he can do it. He has to have hope. Another example of believing in is Piper. Piper has the talent to convince people of anything she ants. She has convinced people to give her a car before and she is then accused of stealing. During one part Piper has to convince people but she is so nervous so Leo and Jason have to believe in her and this makes Piper believe in herself too.“ See they think you’re broken and have to be scrapped. But I don’t believe that. I can fix you if you’ll let me.. You’ll have to trust me” (Riordan 150).
The Lost Hero Article

My article tells you about this book and why you should read it. I higly agree with the article. This book is suspensful and action, but also has a little bit of romance as well.
